Here’s How This Couple Flew Around the World in a Private Bed Using Airline Miles

When I first started flying first class, I wanted to know the answer to just one question: Would it be at all possible to fly for free?

The answer, though not always a simple one, came to me after a few thousand Google searches. Yes, it was possible to fly for free. All you had to do was start collecting points. As someone who had never been all that into collecting points, I had no idea what that meant or what to do.

I knew that I wanted to take my wife on an awesome vacation, however, and that was inspiration enough for me to dedicate myself to learning all that I needed to know. We would always watch people board first class on the flights that we rode coach and I knew that, with enough dedication, that would eventually be us.

And guess what? It happened. The best part, at least to me, is that I did it for free.

Now that I fly first class regularly, I can safely say with little hesitation that the best first class experience, at least in my eyes, is with Singapore Airlines. If you use points to book their Suites class, which is the highest tier possible, you will be paying around $500 out of pocket for a $9,000 trip. That’s a deal if I’ve ever seen one.

What does this Suites class include, you ask? I know many people may think that spending $500 out of pocket is still a lot of money — because it is. But trust me when I tell you that Singapore Suites is a flying experience like no other. Not only do all Suites customers receive complimentary Givenchy pajamas and as much expensive champagne as their stomachs can handle, but they are treated like royalty from the moment they step foot into the departing airport until the moment they land at their destination.

If saving up some points and flying Singapore Airlines sounds like something you’d like to try, we’ve mapped out all you need to know about doing it right here.

Singapore Airlines has their own unique flyer program called KrisFlyer. To get started with booking your flight, you are going to need to log into your KrisFlyer account.

From there, it is all about entering the flight information you want to preview and making sure the “Redeem Flights” button is clicked. This will show you flights that can be redeemed with points so you don’t waste your time.

Additionally, it will show you the number of points each flight will cost you. With the search popped up, click the

“Available” button to choose the flight you want to fly on.

Once departure and return flights are chosen, you are going to be asked to overview the cost and itinerary of your trip. You will then be prompted to continue so that you can begin the fun portion of the planning process:

It’s time to choose your suite!

Let’s get this out of the way right now: There is no such thing as a “bad” suite when you are flying Singapore Suites. That said, everyone has different needs. If you want to be close to the toilets or you’d prefer a middle suite, that is entirely up to you.

You are also going to be asked to choose the main course you’d like to dine on while flying, and you are even able to book a specific chef if you’d like to. There are very few things that you can’t do while enjoying the luxuries of being a Singapore Suites customer, so don’t hold back!

Here’s a list of where Singapore Suites flies:

  • NYC to Frankfurt
  • NYC to Frankfurt to Singapore
  • Los Angeles to Seoul
  • San Francisco to Hong Kong

Steering Life as a Traveler and a Mommy

Being a working woman and a mother at a time is difficult. I am a mother of two young kids and also been working in a private company for which I have to travel outside city or sometimes country for work tours. For many working mothers, when they have to leave their family for a small time, the feeling of guilt and blues is always there. There are some instants that I feel also unhappy and miss the lovely moments that I can spend with my family. But rather than feeling so saddened I believe in optimism. I explain everything to my children and also follow some tips that helps me to maintain a balance between my personal and professional life.

So, here I am sharing with you some of my secret tips to keep a steadiness in life among your office and home.

1. Understanding Family

Family comes first for everyone. Having an understanding family specially husband is a blessing of God. I have a wonderful husband who does an exceptional job and take care of our children and home while I am gone. So, having mutual words between husband and wife will help everyone out there who are working moms and have to travel.

2. Stay Connected

I always remain connected to my children even when I am not home. Well! Thanks to technology and science. This helps me to be with my kids while I am travelling. I try to as much as I can that how I work, where I am and not having fun without them.

3. Work Schedule

I have commitments at home as well as at my office. But I try to keep them apart. I try to avoid to bring my office work at home. I plan out my schedule for future in advance as this helps to accommodate any of events regarding my family like parent teachers meetings, birthdays or anything.

4. Supportive Staff

I am a loyal employee and my employer and other colleagues are also very supportive and understanding. I sometimes work from home. This allows me to have more time with my kids and husband. My working capability and loyalty towards my job runs deep because of these allowances.

5. Small Vacations

A kid always needs his/her mom, no matter how good the father is taking care. I always make sure to take some time out for my kids. We plan small vacations or picnics once in two months. This helps us to rejoice our lives with each other. I try to avoid any office work when I am out with my family.

When I have to travel alone, transportation is an issue in a new place. Being a sole woman while flying to another city, you can hire a professional driver service that will pick you up from airport and drop you to the desired location and this will save a lot of time

To gain everything in your life is a true benediction of God for you. This life is not easy and not everyone is blessed to have such a pleasured, happy and thankful life. I love my family and my work. I always try to figure out new ways to keep the balance. Life is not the bed of roses, some days are easier than others, and that is the reality of life. Every day you enter to a new chapter of your life. With all the care and loyalty towards my family and job, I always make myself happy and have excitement along the way in life.

Family Vacation

Family Vacation – Money Saving Tips for Families on Vacation

Millions of families travel for a family vacation every year. This is a fun and exciting chance for families to enjoy and have fun together. Unfortunately, there are still plenty of families who are stuck at home wishing they too could have a family vacation.

Travelling with the family is not cheap. In a report by Conde Nast Traveler, Allianz’s Vacation Confidence Index says that average American family spend an average of $1,798 when travelling. That would be more expensive if you plan to travel to popular destinations like Thailand, Australia, France, or Brazil.

But what if you can actually spend less on a family vacation without sacrificing the comfort and safety of your family? Sure you’ll think that is impossible, but to prove you that it is possible, here are some tips that you should follow:

Easy Ways to Save Money on Family Vacation

Look for Family-Friendly Hotels Online

Book early and book online. These are the two cardinal rules for travellers looking for cheap accommodation. There are plenty of sites that offer cheaper rates if you book online and/or you book ahead of your stay. Agoda, AirBnB and Expedia have partner hostels that are family-friendly so you have many options to choose from. To save more money, be sure that your vacation is not during peak season, when rates can increase three times the original rate.

Take Alternative Housing

You can also stay with your family member or friends nearby. It is also a good way to introduce your kids to relative and family friends. Alternatively, you can rent a campervan or go camping. It is surely a thrilling experience for your kids.

Avoid Group Tours

While group tours are convenient, it doesn’t actually help save your money. Most travel agents would add service fees on their so-called “promos” to make you think you saved money. To really save, plan your own itinerary or book your own transposition. Online websites like DriveNow offer low car hire rates that would accommodate all your family members. Rented cars like these are more comfortable and safer especially if you have toddlers with you.

Plan an Efficient Itinerary

Avoid tourist spots that are far from each other. You can easily do this through research and careful planning. You can easily search for the site’s location on Google Maps and then analyse an efficient route so you can visit them all.

If possible skip tourist traps or usually tourist destinations because you’ll end up wasting more time on it than appreciating it. Most of these places are crowded and the food is extremely expensive.

Avoid Buying Food on Touristy Places

If you could pack your own food that is great but if you cannot, do not buy them in touristy areas. Pick food along the way and you will surely save money.

Avoid Buying Toys and Souvenirs

You kids can be easily attracted to toys and souvenirs selling on, let say Disneyland or Sea World, if possible do not let them buy. Aside from being overpriced, some of these products are of low quality and won’t last a long time. Also, your kids’ interest on these items won’t last so it can be a complete waste of money.

Who says family vacation can be expensive? From booking hotels earlier, hiring car services, and planning your own itinerary, there are many ways you can save money while ensuring that you children are enjoying your time together.

So now, are you ready to go on a vacation with your family?
